Sage Communications is looking for a highly motivated Federal Capture Manager/Proposal Lead to join our team in Tysons Corner VA. Sage is an award-winning, full-service, integrated communications agency that provides strategic services to clients including marketing, outreach, strategic communications, event support and advertising.


This position is ideal for a successful Federal market Proposal Coordinator or Capture Analyst or Business Development Associate now seeking a leadership position in a high growth organization.


In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, and winning new business within Federal and Civilian markets that align to their core capabilities in marketing, outreach, strategic communications, special event support and advertising. The Capture Manager is accountable for new business capture management, market analysis, managing the execution of the strategy, and pursuit of new business opportunities and bids. This individual is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team to accomplish these objectives in a dynamic, matrixed environment.



  • Proven ability to engage customers at all levels in order to fully understand customer needs, share corporate capabilities and enhance our competitive position.
  • Experience shaping requirements based on government changing needs.
  • Ability to comprehend and articulate a variety of technical topics and service offerings.
  • Champion the opportunity throughout various process gate reviews in throughout business development lifecycle.
  • Lead the resources necessary to accomplish complex requirements in a time sensitive manner.
  • Effective at identifying, selecting and negotiating with subcontractors to bolster win strategy.
  • Recent experience authoring proposal sections.
  • Knowledge of contracting and acquisition in the Government Services market.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exemplary work ethic, judgment and independent initiative attuned to meeting deadlines.
  • Highly effective organizational abilities, writing skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Uncompromising integrity and proficiency in the appropriate treatment of sensitive and company proprietary information.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BS/BA with minimum 3 years (maximum of 7 years) relevant experience in Business Development, Capture Management or Operations.
  • Minimum 2 years market experience selling to customers at US Federal Agencies.
  • Minimum 1 year of full lifecycle proposal development experience (RFI, RFP, RFQ, Task Orders & Delivery Orders).
  • Successful candidates must have a proven track record of successful capture management over the last 2 years.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated record of developing differentiated bid strategies and contract awards.
  • Recent experience pursuing and winning BPA/IDIQ task orders.
  • Prior business development experience in Federal Civilian accounts.
  • Prior experience with Deltek GovWin.
